From left to right:
The first image was my first sketch of myself. I normally wear my hair in a braid as it is the easiest way to keep it controlled. As I wear my hair in the braid, people say it reminds them of a mermaid tail, hence why the end of the braid is a mermaid tail. This was created in Adobe Draw App and finished in Adobe Illustrator. Besides the sketch, this portrait is 99% digitally created. Reopened it and finished 6/20/19.
The second image is part digital and part hand painted. If you look at my style board, you can see what image I used to create this piece. It was a photo from New Years Eve party, I used the feather hairpiece as the "seaweed" and the pearls, I kept but changed the color. This is called, my bubbly personality. I am known to always have a smile and bring joy in conversations.
The third image is actually what the first image was supposed to be. For this one, I ditched the first drawing and used a small sketch I created while in class. This is created in Adobe Draw App and Adobe Illustrator. This is 99% digitally created.
The last image is my artistic side and how my hair is described as an octopus. The octopus is hand painted then digitally transferred into Adobe Illustrator. This one is by far my favorite self portrait because it depicts my style and love for the ocean. I love to draw and paint but once I found the computer that can basically do what I have been doing on paper, it has opened my world.
Below is my creative process and who inspired me to create my self portraits, Morgan Davidson. With her unique style by adding in objects into the hair, adds a new element to the design. The reason why I fell in love with this style is because I am always told that my hair is like an octopus since it attaches to everything as well as people telling me my hair reminds them of a mermaid. So I mimicked her style but adding in my own touch.
